I probably prefer this to the B/W sprite, actually (Those had really boring poses

Then agai, they were moving sprites so they couldn't be anything too fancy otherwise the movement would seem a bit awkward)

Hm... But yeah a lot of the DP, Platinum or HGSS sprites I preferred to BW because they were a bit more dynamic... Like Weavile and Rattata's Platinum, but Weavile was standing on one leg and Rattata was standing on one front foot so I don't think that would have worked for a moving sprite much...
